Toyota Center
The Toyota Center is located in Houston, Texas and occupies a span of six city blocks. Construction
on this indoor arena began in July 2001 but the Toyota Center Houston was not up and running until two years after. The arena officially opened in October of 2003 and since then the Toyota Center’s schedule has proven that it is one of the leading venues for live entertainment.
The popularity and success of the Toyota Center can be seen through their awards and fan attendance. Houston’s Toyota Center was the winner of the 2003 Allen Award for Civic Enhancement by Central Houston, “Rookie of the Year” by the Harlem Globetrotters and a finalist for Pollstar Magazine’s “Best New Concert Venue" award. Furthermore, the Toyota Center Houston had an impressive start by welcoming more than 1.5 million fans in their first year.
The Toyota Center is home to the NBA’s Houston Rockets and the AHL’s Houston Aeros. The Toyota center Houston was also home to the WNBA’s Houston Comets until the team was folded and disbanded by the league in 2008. In addition to its various basketball and hockey events, the Toyota Center schedule also plays host to some of the country’s hit concerts and touring shows.
